To ensure that our students enroll at the appropriate level, we use a Spanish Language Proficiency Assessment.
Specially trained Spanish Online Optimal Lessons teachers conduct this interview. From the student’s point of view, it is basically a conversation conducted in Spanish. But when used by someone experienced with it, the Language Proficiency Assessment is a very useful tool for determining language abilities. It demonstrates everything the student knows about Spanish simply by sampling his or her speech in a normal conversation.

This kind of assessment is widely used by the government and other organizations. It was developed in the 1950s by the Foreign Service Institute to assess the language skills of foreign service officers stationed abroad. Standardized factors were developed for scoring and the interview was structured to ensure that all those factors were covered. This ensures that the scoring of individuals is consistent, even when different interviewers conducted the assessment.

That is why our classes are efficient and effective. Our students get individualized instruction at the level appropriate for them and proceed at a pace most comfortable for them.
